Florida Yards and Neighborhoods (FYN)
Ugarte & Associates, Inc. Florida Friendly Yard

Fifteen Master Gardeners joined FYN Coordinator Kurt Rowe and Yard Advisor Carol Smith in a Yard Recognition Visit to Ugarte & Associates, Inc., a local Palmetto business that serves as a community model for Florida-Friendly commercial landscapes.  Their business landscape has quite an array of native Florida plants and exists primarily on rainfall.  The median between the sidewalks and the street is planted with mimosa-vine or Powderpuff, a native groundcover in place of the more traditional turf grasses.  Their landscape also received a commercial landscape award this past spring at the Florida Native Plants Society's Annual 2007 Conference.

The Ugarte & Associates, Inc. landscape received the FYN Golden Oak recognition.  Congratulations!!
