A brief overview of Landscape Irrigation I plus elements of a well-designed system; material choices; and proper sizing, layout of zones, and landscape influences. Retrofitting micro-irrigation in your plan will also be covered. This class is more detailed and there is no prerequisite class.

Take Charge of Your Diabetes

Would you like to learn how to take control of your Type 2 diabetes? If so, this is the class for you!
Take Charge of Your Diabetes is an eight-week course designed to help individuals with Type 2 diabetes better manage their disease. Guest speakers certified in diabetes education provide participants with valuable information on the following topics: (1) What is Diabetes?; (2) Keeping Track of Blood Glucose; (3) Diabetes Medications; (4) Nutritional Management of Diabetes;
(5) Carbohydrate Counting; (6) Exercise and Physical Activity; (7) Standards of Medical Care; and (8) Cardiovascular Disease & Foot Care.
Three health assessments will be performed throughout the program which will measure height (first assessment only), weight, and blood pressure.
The cost of this program is $75.00 per participant. Each participant is allowed to bring one support person with them at no extra charge. The price includes all materials, guest speakers, and refreshments.
Classes begin June 5, 2008 from 5:30 - 7:30pm at the Manatee County Extension office in Palmetto and run for eight weeks. There will be a 6-week and 3-month follow-up after the class is complete to monitor progress.
Space is limited to the first 20 participants, so register today!
